Guidelines for UseThe following conditions apply to users of Internet terminals : Public use PC's in the branches of the Clarence Regional Library are provided, primarily, as information tools. To overcome potential conflict between patrons, all time on the computer will have to be booked. Bookings will be in half hour blocks and each user will be entitled to a single half hour block per half day and will only be permitted use beyond this time if the computer has not been booked by any other person. Users of the computer will have to be registered members of the library and they shall deposit their library card with the library staff and collect it promptly upon terminating their computer session. Patrons are to use the service ethically at all times (refer to Policies page). Any copyright infringements as a result of downloading copyrighted electronic materials is the sole liability of the patron. Patrons are to terminate their sessions promptly at the correct time so as not to deny the next user their full session. Patrons must be aware that sometimes, due to circumstances beyond our control, our Internet connection may be down. If this occurs, patrons will be allocated another session as soon as possible. Material downloaded from the Internet is to be downloaded to floppy disks or e-mailed to the patrons computer and NOT downloaded to the Library's hard drive. Any material downloaded to the hard drive will be deleted. Any software downloaded from the Internet must not be opened on the Library's computers. Staff may be requested for assistance in solving problems . However it must be realised that they are not " systems experts" and may have to refer the problem elsewhere for solution. Time delays as a result could be lengthy and will have to be accepted. The amount of assistance staff can provide will also depend on the pressures of their other duties which will, depending on circumstances, have to be given priority. Staff will not be available to provide Internet training. Clarence Regional Library provides basic Internet training in all branches on a regular basis. Please ask branch staff if you wish to book into a training session. Abuse, physical or verbal, will not be tolerated to terminals due to problems with access or other, or to staff of the Clarence Regional Library.
