Clarence Regional Library provides a range of services to assist students with their HSC studies

Infocus

  • Infocus is an innovative service that links students studying for the NSW HSC with information from the State Library of New South Wales.  Copies of a number of the Infocus resources are available Clarence Regional Library Headquarters -contact your nearest branch or place an information request online to our Information Services Librarian.  Click here for title held by Clarence Regional Library

Online Databases

  • Clarence Regional Library subscribes to a range of Online Databases that are accessible in the library and at home. All you need is your Library barcode (from your library card) and a PIN (see library staff to arrange for a PIN/password to be added to your card if you don’t already have one). These databases provide full text material covering virtually every subject area from journals, newspapers, newswires and reference books.

Homework Help LinksYourTutor

  • Ask-a-Librarian Unable to find the information you need for your project? Submit your question using our online Request for Information to our Information Services staff.
  • YourTutor creates an online classroom where students are connected to qualified, expert tutors for one- to - one help with homework, assignments, exam preparation and study questions. English, Maths and Science subjects are included and the service is available 4pm-8pm, Monday to Friday from either library or home computers. Help is immediate, professional and secure and it’s free to library members. Students in Years 4-12, simply log on to the library’s website and click on the link to access the program.
  • Homework Help Links Our Information Services staff have compiled a listing of excellent resources and websites to assist students in locating information for school assignments
  • The State Library of NSW Readers Card enables you access to their range of Databases from Home. Follow the prompts, get your card, and get online.
  • Academic Earth - thousands of video lectures from the world’s top scholars.

  • Inside Break, provided by Manly, Pittwater and Warringah Council Libraries, is full of information and links to lectures, resources, past exams, and more
  • NSW HSC Online provides access to resources and exam material for 48 subjects in the HSC curriculum

  • HSC English Research Guides, from the State Library of NSW, will help you find the best books, articles, websites, online databases, and catalogues - sourced and verified by library experts - covering a range of fiction, non-fiction, film, television and Shakespeare components
  • SparkNotes has free online study guides for novels, poetry, and Shakespeare provided by Harvard University.
  • Classic Notes provides free study guides for hundreds of titles from novels, plays, poetry, and film

  • HSC Geography Unit 2 is covered here by Macquarie Uni.
  • Geography Links from the University of Sydney relating to Urban Places, Ecosystems at Risk, Biophysical Interactions, Global Challenges and many more issues

Legal studies

  • Find Legal Answers (Legal Information Access Centre), from the State Library of NSW, provides a targeted service to assist HSC legal studies students and teachers.
  • The Find Legal Answers tool kit is a collection plain language books to answer everyday questions about the law and can be found in all Clarence Regional Library branches.
  • The Legal Studies Research Guide and LIAC Crime Library provides useful resources for teachers and students of Legal Studies. Organised according to NSW HSC syllabus topics, these resources list key links to relevant legislation and key cases and provide strategies for finding useful articles and media reports
  • Hot Topics is a series published by LIAC about recent changes and current debates in the law. Written by experts in the field, and presented in plain language, each issue includes case studies and contacts.  Click here for titles held by our library.
  • The Law Books for Libraries collection is located at Grafton Branch Library and provides some more detailed resources.
