Family & Local History Research

Located at the Regional Library Headquarters in South Grafton, Clarence Regional Library holds the Archives Resources Kit (ARK): microfilm and microfiche copies of early NSW records including convict, shipping and early births, deaths, and marriages (pre 1856), and the Colonial Secretary’s papers. Please contact Regional Library Headquarters on 6642 7588 if you wish to use these resources and to book the use of the microfilm and microfiche readers. The Family History Group meets here the first Thursday of every month.

In addition to this resource we also have access to the NSW Family History Document Service accessible by username and password. Username = ndon2, password = nswnet.

Clarence Regional Library also holds a range of books and indexes on family and local history which are located throughout our branches and at Regional Library Headquarters. Please refer to our online Catalogue, guide to Family History, or contact your nearest branch for further information.

Legal Information Access Centre (LIAC)

All branches hold a Legal Tool Kit, a collection of legal information books and pamphlets written in plain English and supported by LIAC at the NSW State Library. Including the Hot Topics publication aimed specifically at Legal Studies students, this resource is aimed to help individuals find legal information. Grafton City Library also holds a selection of Law Books for Libraries providing more in-depth legal information - refer also to the Find Legal Answers website .

Health Information

All branches hold a drug info @ your library collection of books and pamphlets. Supported by the Health Information Service at the NSW State Library, this resource aims to provide drug related health information in plain English for students, parents, and the general community - refer also to the drug info @ your library website.
